Autumn might just be my favorite season! With its crisp mornings, sunny afternoons, golden leaves, and, of course, Halloween, there’s so much to love at this time of year. October also comes with it challenges too, if you're a mum in Bedfordshire then you're also be hunting for school holiday activities too. Finding fun things to do with children can be a challenge, especially as we all know that the weather can be unpredicable. Pumpkin Picking at Franklin’s Farm Shop
What better way to embrace autumn than by picking your own pumpkins? Franklin’s Farm Shop in Bedfordshire is hosting its 2nd annual Pick Your Own Pumpkins event. With homegrown pumpkins in a variety of shapes and sizes, this is a perfect October family activity in Bedfordshire. Don’t forget your wellies, as it can get muddy! The farm shop is open during regular hours, so plan your visit accordingly.
This year, they’re also hosting an Autumn Open Day on Saturday, 26th October 2024, featuring local craft stalls, Gin tasting, a bouncy castle, pumpkin picking, and much more! Entry and parking is Free, Visit their website for more details: Franklin's Farm Shop.
We went and picked our pumpkins from them last year and absolutely loved it. Its a real treat to be able to share how food is grown and pick your own pumpkins to carve or make into a delicious dinner! The maze was also a big hit with us! Get Crafty with Seasonal Autumn Flower Workshops
Second October activity at Franklins Farm is just accross from the farm shop and Dairy Cafe. The Bedfordshire Flower School which runs from The Flower Mill studio have fantasic seasonal autumn flower workshops.
The Bedfordshire Flower School are running numerous autumn flower workshop classes through October which can be booked online. The morning posy in a pumpkin workshop sold out super quickly but there are lots of other floristry classes to choose from that will give you space to get creative and bring hand crafted autumn decor into your home.
